Economic Recovery: What Women Need to Know,
Freehold,
NJ.
This event will disseminate pertinent information to women regarding recovery act funding and strategies for leveraging resources and engaging communities to better serve women, including employment and training opportunities for women. The event will highlight programs in the Recovery Act that will help women and families with unemployment, housing, childcare, retraining and other supportive services. It will also spotlight new and emerging green jobs career fields and share information about long-term projections for needed skill sets and emerging occupations and industries. A final goal of the forum is to create regional dialogues about the roadmap needed to embark on real changes that improve job opportunity, wages and working conditions for women and their families that lead to economic recovery.

The Women’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Labor and the Institute for Workforce Innovation at Metropolitan Community College (MCC) are conducting an educational forum titled “What the Stimulus Package holds for Women in Kansas City” on Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST at MCC-Penn Valley, 3201 S.W. Trafficway in Kansas City.
The forum is free and open to the public. It will cover such topics as job search strategies, resume tips, skills for green jobs, careers in health care, returning to college and networking.
